Prelude

Giving animal health research a platform of its own.

Overview
Prelude

Prelude is the animal health R&D platform built exclusively for the science that advances animal health, connecting every study from lab to label across every species.

The Challenge

8 of the top 10 animal health pharma companies run their research on Prelude. Companion animal, livestock, poultry, aquaculture, equine. All studies, all species, one audit-ready system of record. Nobody else in the market is built only for animal health.

The website didn't say that. It treated animal health as one industry among many, sitting next to oncology, CNS, rare disease, and medtech. The biggest differentiator Prelude had was buried. And the WordPress build was so rigid the team couldn't even remove the human health modules from the homepage.

There was a perception problem too. Prelude read as enterprise grade and complex. Prospects kept saying it was great for complex studies but too much for smaller ones. That mattered because livestock, Prelude's biggest growth market, runs simpler, lower-cost studies. On top of that, the site leaned on stock photography in an industry where community and personality carry real weight.

Prelude needed a site that put animal health front and center, felt friendly and simple, and gave the team a CMS they could actually work in.

‍

Our Approach

We started with structure. The human health verticals came out, and the site was reorganized around species: Companion, Livestock, Specialty Species, and Translational. Every visitor gets a path that speaks to the animals they work with. A dedicated CRO Partnerships page speaks to the other side of the buying decision, since sponsors and CROs don't always lead the same way. And success stories moved up front instead of sitting buried in a resource library.

The visual direction builds on Prelude's existing brand rather than replacing it. We refined the system and pushed it further: a more vibrant use of the color palette, a custom icon illustration set, and real animal photography that pops. The homepage leads with the animals, not the software, with product shown through abstracted illustrations and a custom homepage product animation. The goal was a balance point between SaaS and lifestyle. Credible enough for pharma research teams, warm enough to feel like Prelude.

Clean animations run throughout the site, giving it energy without getting in the way of the content.

On the build side, we migrated the site from WordPress to Webflow. CMS collections cover blog posts, customer stories, guides and reports, press releases, and webinars, with 134 resources carried over and redirects in place to protect search equity. The Prelude team was trained in the Webflow Editor, so they can keep publishing without a developer.

The Final Point

The new site positions Prelude as more than an EDC: a full lifecycle evidence platform for animal health. Animal health isn't one industry on the list anymore. It's the whole story.

Prelude's line to its partners has always been "we are the tech experts, so you can be the animal experts." The site finally makes that obvious from the first scroll.

We built it for where Prelude is headed, especially in livestock. Good to see the animals finally taking the lead.
